Site of Fort Edward - French & Indian War Fort This was the site from which Fort William Henry in Lake George was fortified. This is where the troops and supplies came from and where the soldiers came back to. During the war, there were six thousand troops camped in the northern end of Rogers Island. On the southern side there was an officers barracks, gardens and a small pox hospital. The buildings are gone now, but you can still see the old moat of the fort in the ground. The Rogers Island Visitor’s Center Offers displays and programs on the history of Rogers Island. In addition to the French & Indian War history, the island was also the home base of Rogers Rangers, one of the first “special ops” training programs in the country. The Fort Edward Train Station located on East Street this historical D&H Railroad depot is undergoing restoration with some areas already completed. The Train Station is a stop for Amtrak’s daily “Adirondack” passenger service between New York City and Montreal.

This area is perfect for major events, like Heritage Days, craft fairs & seasonal celebrations. The gazebo allows for weddings, bands and other performances.
McIntyre Park Tennis and basketball courts, playground equipment and two ball fields. This is home of the Girls Softball league. Hodgeman Park and the Fort Edward Community Pool The first lighted little league field in the United States. Feeder Canal Bike Trail Ride along the Old Champlain Canal past the five combines- a series of five stone locks built in the 1800's. This trail continues through Hudson Falls, Glens Falls, Queensbury and Lake George. Fort Miller Recreational Area Located along the banks of the Hudson River in a uniquely preserved colonial hamlet. Ball fields, playground and picnic area.
